Repairs to a Grade II 350 Year Old Former Stable Block

Writer: Simon HollisSimon Hollis

Following the preparation of a Heritage Statement and Listed Building Consent application, our Schedule of Works received approval, and with the start of the lime season hopefully, around the corner, preparation has begun on this project.

T.E. Brindley has begun raking out the cementitious mortar by hand, the work is progressing nicely and revealing some of the original stone pins.

Some test mixes have been made and we are close to the original mix with a Calbux 90 quicklime powder and Nosterfield aggregate. Looking forward to seeing the final mix and getting some pointing done when the weather stabilises.
